Here are some guidelines for choosing an essay/oral presentation topic. 1)It should be related to your field of study. So, if you are going to study accounting, consider economics, budgeting, money, currency, tax, affluence, etc. 2)Do NOT simply choose a topic which is a description of facts. Try to have a position/opinion/argument as your title, or make it an 'evaluation' of something in which you have to give your opinion. 3)Then, do the research (and this means 'reading')for evidence/facts/details to support your position/opinion/argument. 4)Don't make it too complex or technical in terms of content.
And, remember that this is an opportunity to prove your English language ability and ability to select good support from your research.It is not to prove your knowledge of your subject.
